Sword Rain Legends
Lead one of six wandering swordsmen through a demon horde that surrounds in layers — breach a gap with your skill, Windstep out, and cut down all eight sovereigns.
The game's own interface may still be in English.
Overview
Sword Rain Legends is a top-down wuxia horde-survival game where the demon tide does not trickle toward you — it surrounds you in layers. You play one of six wandering swordsmen whose flying swords chase nearby foes on their own, so your real job is positioning: read the encirclement, breach the weakest arc with a directed hero skill, and Windstep through the gap before the ring closes again. Four realms of sixteen waves stand between you and the eight sovereigns — demon lords like the Pyre Demonlord, the Frostbone Wyrm, and the Ashen Phoenix Emperor — each with its own attack vocabulary and an enraged second form at half health. Runs last minutes, restarts are instant, and records are saved locally in your browser.
How to Play
Move with WASD or the arrow keys; your flying swords aim themselves at nearby enemies. Hold the left mouse button to direct your swords, skill, and ultimate toward the pointer. E fires your hero skill — a formation breach whose shape depends on your hero. Space is Windstep, a short dodge with invulnerability that fails against dense ranks or heavy armor unless you open a gap first. R releases your charged ultimate, a focused forward burst rather than a full-screen wipe. Pick up spirit motes to level, then press 1, 2, or 3 for Breaker, Myriad, or Enduring insight upgrades without pausing. Esc pauses, M mutes, F toggles fullscreen. On touch screens, drag the left joystick and tap the skill buttons at bottom right — landscape plays best.
Tips & Strategy
Never spend Windstep into a solid wall of enemies: armored elites and packed ranks stop the dash dead, so the survival rhythm is always breach first, then dash. Watch the encirclement gauge near the minimap — it shows pressure and the weakest arc as an arrow, which is where your skill will open the cleanest gap. Breaking out of a tightening ring recharges ultimate energy, so aggressive escapes are literally fuel. Golden pillars drop sword chests that grant eight seconds of Sword Surge; green motes heal. Against sovereigns, sidestep the red warning zones instead of out-dashing them, and save Windstep for the enraged second form, when attack tempo roughly doubles. In the early waves, thin one side of the ring instead of fighting on all fronts at once.
Choosing Your Hero
All six heroes share the breach-and-dash loop but break ranks very differently. Northstar is the balanced pick — his Pivot Breach carves a fan-shaped gap and grants a shield, forgiving for first runs. Emberfang swings a heavy greatsword: Earthsplit Cleave shoves armor aside and leaves a burning trail, slow but devastating. Stormhowl pierces lines with Thunder Rift and paralyzes what it touches, a nimble guardian with chain lightning. Sprocket floods the field with the most flying swords of any hero and detonates corridors with Starburst Volley, winning by sheer numbers. Willowmist heals through Mistflower Blades and sustains long fights, while Frosttail slows and freezes whole fans of enemies — her Frozen Domain even lets Windstep pass through frozen foes. If you keep dying surrounded, start with Northstar or Frosttail.
The Breach-and-Dash Rhythm
What separates Sword Rain Legends from a stat-check survivors-like is that escape is a two-step skill, not a panic button. The encirclement system tracks how tightly the horde wraps you and where the thin arc is; your skill is the can opener, Windstep is the getaway, and the ultimate is the reserved corridor drill for when both are on cooldown. Because the ultimate no longer clears the screen, every sovereign fight becomes a spacing puzzle — herd the boss toward a thinned arc, breach outward when the ring tightens, and never let the pressure gauge pin you in the center. Mastering that rhythm matters far more than raw damage, especially on Inferno and Asura, where elites anchor the ring early and flankers cut off lazy retreats.

Frequently asked questions
How do you escape a full encirclement in Sword Rain Legends?
Dense ranks and armored elites block your Windstep dash, so dashing into a wall of enemies fails. Fire your hero skill (E) first to breach a gap, then Windstep (Space) through the opening — a clean breakout also recharges your ultimate.
What is the difference between the three modes?
Journey runs four realms of sixteen waves with all eight sovereigns, Endless keeps scaling past wave sixteen until you fall, and the Eight Kings trial starts you as a rank-12 swordsman fighting every boss back to back.
Do upgrades pause the game in Sword Rain Legends?
No. Insight choices appear while the fight continues — press 1, 2, or 3 to pick Breaker (damage), Myriad (more swords), or Enduring (body and regen). If the countdown ends, your previous school is kept automatically.
