Overview
Signpost hides a numbered sequence behind a grid of directional arrows. Every square belongs to one chain, starting at the given beginning and finishing at its endpoint. The arrow in a square points toward the square that follows it, but that successor may lie several spaces away along the indicated direction. An arrow does not necessarily point to the nearest square. Some numbers are fixed, providing anchors for the order. The open-source Signpost engine lets linked groups acquire relative numbering as you connect them, so a short chain can be useful even before you know exactly where it belongs in the final sequence. Generated layouts provide new deductions without requiring you to race a clock or memorise a prescribed path.
How to Play
Drag from a square to the square you believe should follow it. The destination must lie along the source arrow's direction. Secondary dragging works in the reverse relationship, connecting a square to its predecessor. Drag a square outside the grid to remove its links; use Undo if you detach more than intended. On touch screens, short deliberate drags help distinguish the start and destination. Join every cell into the correct ordered chain, preserving all given numbers. Restart resets links on the current puzzle.
Tips & Strategy
Look for a square with only one possible predecessor or successor. Boundary arrows often create these restrictions because most of their line of sight lies outside the grid. Fixed consecutive numbers can force a link immediately, while two anchors several numbers apart constrain the length of a connecting chain. Do not form a closed cycle before the endpoint: every square needs to fit into one sequence. When a small chain seems movable, inspect both ends together instead of relocating an interior link independently. An arrow's ability to skip over cells is useful, but it does not allow changing direction midway through a connection.
