Overview

Netwalk scrambles a wiring diagram by rotating its individual tiles. Every wire end must eventually connect to a matching end on an adjacent tile, bringing all endpoints into one network. The final network must have no loops. Straight wires, corners, junctions and endpoints each restrict which orientations can work beside the border or neighbouring pieces. The board looks mechanical, but you are not racing a moving signal or routing vehicles; each rotation changes a static connectivity puzzle. SonoTap hosts the Net engine with a generator and selectable board settings. Ordinary non-wrapping boards provide a clear starting point, while other presets can change what happens at the edges. Locking solved tiles helps preserve deductions while you inspect less certain parts of the network.

How to Play

Click a tile to rotate it anticlockwise, or use a secondary click to rotate it clockwise. On desktop, Shift-click or the middle mouse button locks a tile; repeat to unlock it. On a phone, the Secondary toggle selects clockwise rotation. Check the current preset before relying on the outer border: wrapping boards connect opposite edges. Arrange the pieces until every wire matches its neighbours and every endpoint joins the same network. New generates another scramble with the selected settings. Undo lets you reverse exploratory rotations, while Restart restores the original scrambled layout.

Tips & Strategy

On a non-wrapping board, point wire ends away from the outside border. Then work from endpoints, because a single connection often fixes the adjacent tile more tightly than a junction does. A pair of endpoints must not connect only to each other unless that would include the entire puzzle. Watch for a potential closed ring inside a larger connected section: a loop can look neatly wired yet violate the network rule. Work outward from a reliable cluster and lock only genuinely determined tiles. If changing a distant corner disconnects a large area, inspect its few bridging connections before rotating everything again.

Netwalk uses the locally compiled net engine from Simon Tatham’s Portable Puzzle Collection. The original authors retain credit under the MIT license. SonoTap provides the browser adaptation and this guide.
