Star Club Manager

Take over a fictional football club, handle transfers, training, and facilities, then draw passing and shooting lines directly on a 3D pitch to steer live matches.

The game's own interface may still be in English.

Overview

Star Club Manager (星主俱乐部 · 画线转位版) is a football management game played in two layers. In the office layer you take over one of eight fictional clubs — each with its own identity and a season-long perk, from cheaper team training to extra sponsorship income — and handle everything a real director of football would: scouting the transfer market for undervalued players, selling surplus squad members, scheduling weekly training and recovery, and upgrading three facilities (training center, home stands, and scouting network). In the match layer the game switches to a live 3D pitch where you intervene directly: instead of watching a simulation, you draw routes with the mouse or a finger to move your players and the ball. A full season runs through a league campaign, and the top eight clubs advance to a knockout cup with a champion's prize on the line. Note that the game's interface text is in Chinese; the mechanics themselves are visual and the menus translate cleanly with a browser extension.

How to Play

Start by picking a club and a difficulty — the gentlest setting weakens opponents and suits a first season. Between matches, spend your budget in the transfer market, keep at least twelve and at most twenty-four players, and set one training focus and one recovery session per round. Choose a tactical style for each match, from balanced play and possession to counter-attacking, high pressing, or wing attacks. During the match, drag a line from the glowing ring around the ball: release near a teammate to pass, on open grass to dribble, or inside the opponent's goal aiming zone to set shot angle and height. You also get a limited number of coach commands — push the line up, tighten the defense, or restore team fitness. On keyboard, A toggles automatic path mode, C opens the coach command menu, and Esc cancels a line in progress. Progress saves locally in the browser.

Tips & Strategy

The economy is the foundation: sponsorship arrives every round, but wages go out with it, so buying a star you cannot afford to keep is how seasons collapse. The Gold Tangerine Consortium club perk (extra starting funds and sponsorship) or a discounted-training perk noticeably eases the first season. In the market, younger players with mid-range ratings are the value picks — training raises them cheaply, and you can sell high later. Upgrade the training center first; it compounds every week, while the stands and scouting network pay off more slowly. In matches, five tactical styles are not cosmetic: high pressing wins the ball early but drains fitness fast, so pair it with the fitness-restoring coach command or reserve it for cup knockouts. When drawing lines, short passes to nearby teammates are safer than ambitious diagonals through traffic — an interception hands the opponent a counter. Draw into space ahead of a runner rather than directly at their feet, and save shot attempts for when the line into the goal's aiming zone is clear of defenders.

The Two Halves of the Game

What makes Star Club Manager unusual is that neither layer fully works without the other. A rich club with a strong squad still loses if you draw careless lines, because interceptions and shot placement are decided by your routes, not by ratings alone. Conversely, sharp match-day drawing cannot rescue a threadbare squad over a long season, since fitter, faster opponents punish slow defenders and tired legs. The result plays like a partnership: the office work sets your ceiling for the year, and your touchline drawing decides how close to that ceiling each match finishes. Four difficulty levels widen that gap in both directions, so a first season on the easiest setting is genuinely a tutorial rather than a formality.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to read Chinese to play Star Club Manager?

The interface text is in Chinese, but the core loop is visual: you pick a club, buy and train players, and during matches you draw lines from the glowing ring around the ball to pass, dribble, or shoot. A browser translation extension handles the menus well.

Does my club progress carry over between visits?

Yes. Your squad, finances, facilities, league table, and season state are saved in the browser's local storage and validated on load, so a career continues where you left it on the same device.

How do the drawn lines work in a match?

You drag a route starting from the glowing ring around the ball. Ending the line near a teammate plays a pass into their path, ending it on open grass makes the ball carrier dribble there, and drawing into the opponent's goal aiming zone sets the shot's angle and height.
