Neon Salvager
Pilot a salvage skiff through a neon debris field, pulling valuable scrap into your beam while mines, asteroids, and comets threaten the hull.
Overview
Neon Salvager is a three-minute arcade survival run built around a risky tractor beam. Your skiff crosses a luminous debris field where valuable scrap drifts among asteroids, mines, and fast diagonal comets. Steering close to scrap is only the beginning: you must hold the beam long enough to pull it aboard, which makes an otherwise agile ship commit to a dangerous lane. Consecutive pickups grow a combo multiplier, so the score system encourages staying active even when the safest decision would be to retreat. Damage reduces the hull, while successful salvage periodically opens an upgrade choice. Five upgrade types change the shape of a run by strengthening the beam, improving movement, expanding protection, or making each pickup more productive. The fixed three-minute duration gives every attempt a clear arc: establish a combo early, invest upgrades deliberately, and survive the increasingly busy final stretch. A persistent best score provides a useful target without pretending that popularity or ratings determine quality.
How to Play
Use A and D or the Left and Right Arrows to steer horizontally. Hold Space when scrap enters the tractor cone, and release it when a hazard threatens your line. Touch players can drag to steer and hold the large Tractor button. When an upgrade appears, press 1, 2, or 3 or tap the desired card. Press P to pause. The run ends when the timer expires or the hull is depleted; collected scrap, combo value, survival, and upgrades together determine how far the score can climb.
Tips & Strategy
Treat the beam as a commitment, not a weapon. Begin pulling only when you have checked the space immediately beyond the target, because the incoming scrap can hide a mine or tempt you into a late dodge. Short, controlled beam bursts are safer than holding continuously. Build the combo on nearby pieces and let distant scrap go when collecting it would force a cross-field chase. Watch comet angles rather than their current positions; diagonal motion can close a safe-looking gap faster than a vertical obstacle. Early movement or beam improvements help establish reliable income, while defensive upgrades become more valuable as the field grows crowded. Do not select upgrades automatically: pause long enough to decide which weakness actually ended the previous run. If hull is healthy, protect the multiplier by choosing reachable scrap instead of maximizing the value of a single pickup. Near the final minute, prioritize survival and clean lanes. A living ship with a modest combo continues scoring, while one greedy collision can erase the time needed for the next upgrade cycle.
What Makes It Distinct
Many collection games reward touching every object immediately. Neon Salvager makes collection take time, turning each piece of scrap into a positional decision. The readable neon palette separates rewards from three hazard families, while keyboard, pointer, and touch controls preserve the same central tradeoff: stay exposed for a larger haul, or release the beam and live to collect again.
